Tech for Good: Spotlight on Joe Chubb

Written by Kristen Minichello

This month we are spotlighting one of our outgoing Board Members. After serving on the Board of Directors for the past six years, Joe Chubb’s term ended in June. When he brought in a pizza lunch for the staff recently, we had the opportunity to learn about his passion for the Browns, the small town of Chubbtown in Georgia founded by his ancestors in 1864, and much more. Joe is the Owner of CTIS, LLC. providing virtual information technology services for small to medium-size businesses. He has assisted The Children’s Center with our technology questions and advised us on new technology purchases.

We asked Joe to share a little more about himself so that we could all get to know him a little better.

Roles and Responsibilities

How did you learn about The Children’s Center of Medina County? Why did you decide to join the Board of Directors?

I heard about The Children’s Center from a former forensic interviewer at The Children’s Center who had previously worked for an IT client of mine. My interest was piqued by the mission and the unique process of reducing trauma when interviewing children.

What is your current role at The Children’s Center?

I have recently rolled off the board after serving for 6 years. My current role is as a supporter and donor.

What are you most proud of in your work with The Children’s Center?

I am so proud of how The Children’s Center has grown and that during my tenure we were able to cut the ribbon for a new facility.

Personal Insights and Reflection

What is the best advice you were ever given? Who was it from?

I was struggling with an issue while in the Air Force and stationed overseas. My mother said once a person shows you who they are believe them. I now know that it’s a quote from Maya Angelou.

When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?

Originally, I wanted to be an attorney, but my mindset always led me to electronics. That’s why I have worked in Avionics, Telephony, & Network Engineering.

What is your favorite way to unwind after a busy day?

I love video games, especially NBA 2K and Halo. I’ve been gaming since the days of Pong.

What is one song you have completely memorized?

I have two songs by the same artist, LL Cool J, memorized – “I’m Bad” and “I’m That Type of Guy.”

Community Engagement and Support

What does the community need to know about The Children’s Center?

The community needs to understand how many children are abused and how The Children’s Center helps children begin their healing process.
