This month we are spotlighting our Visitation and Family Coordinator, Brandi Provoznik-Rees. She oversees the Foster Care Visitation Center in the evenings and supervises multiple visits each week.
Brandi is committed to ensuring that the Foster Care Visitation Center remains a safe and comfortable environment for children. She provides support during visitation between children and their birth families by observing parent-child interactions and assisting families to interact in positive ways. Brandi’s previous experience includes family supervision at the Gift Exchange – Medina County Domestic Relations Courts Visitation Center.
We asked Brandi to share a little more about herself so we could all get to know her better.
Roles and Responsibilities
How did you learn about The Children’s Center of Medina County? Why did you decide to join the staff?
I learned about The Children’s Center from working in the community. I decided to apply when I learned from a co-worker about the position.
What is your current role at The Children’s Center? What do you do in that role?
I am currently the Visitation and Family Coordinator. I supervise visits between children in foster care and their biological parents.
What are you most proud of in your work with The Children’s Center?
Being an advocate for people has always been a passion of mine. I started in long-term care advocating for our senior community, moved to advocating for survivors of domestic violence, and now for children needing supervised visitation. The Children’s Center helps me thrive in the work I love.
Personal Insights and Reflections
What was the best advice you were ever given?
The best advice I was ever given was to leave my thoughts and opinions at the door before the start of every shift. In my work, starting each day with a clear mind without opinion and bias is important.
When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?
I always jumped between wanting to be a nurse or working in law enforcement.
What would we be most likely to find you doing on the weekend?
I can usually be found at a baseball or football game with my son!
What is your favorite season?
I am a lover of warm weather. Summertime is my absolute favorite!
