Medina County children experiencing abuse and neglect will soon have a powerful voice in court. The Children’s Center of Medina County is launching a new Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) program, joining a statewide CASA network that supports children.
This initiative will bring trained CASA volunteers into the courtroom to advocate for children’s best interests thanks to collaboration with Medina County Juvenile and Probate Court, Judge Kevin W. Dunn, and the Ohio CASA/GAL Association.
A Community Effort to Support Children
CASA volunteers are compassionate individuals from all walks of life who undergo a thorough screening process and specialized CASA training to prepare them for their vital role. These advocates will be part of a larger state and national CASA network, working to ensure every child who has experienced abuse, neglect, or dependency receives the support and advocacy they deserve.
“As Judge, I am most excited to have engaged in the collaboration to form a CASA program that will be beneficial to the community, families, and children that are Court involved,” said Judge Kevin W. Dunn. “Kudos to The Children’s Center and Medina County Job and Family Services for their ongoing support.”
In 2025, 48 CASA programs will serve children across 62 Ohio counties, and Medina County is now proudly part of this essential child advocacy network.
Now Hiring: CASA Program Director & Recruiting Volunteers

Once a CASA Program Director is hired and the National CASA New Development Process is complete, the program will begin accepting volunteers to serve as CASA advocates for children.
“We are excited to welcome CASA of Medina County to the Ohio CASA Network at the request of Judge Dunn,” said Doug Stephens, Executive Director of Ohio CASA. “I encourage everyone to consider getting involved. There are still many children in Ohio who need an advocate in their corner.”
