Centering Support: Spotlight on Clarissa Greer

This month, we’re shining a spotlight on Clarissa Greer, the current Vice President of our Board of Directors and soon-to-be President. After first connecting with The Children’s Center through our fundraising events, she quickly became one of our most enthusiastic champions — hosting donation drives, bringing friends and family into our community of supporters, and lending her time and insight to our Fundraising Committee. Her dedication and contagious enthusiasm soon led her to join our Board of Directors. In June 2026, she will take the next step in her leadership journey as Board President, continuing to guide and strengthen our mission to protect children and support families in Medina County.

Her passion for helping families extends beyond our organization—she is a dedicated advocate in Bedford Municipal Court, supporting families during some of their most challenging moments.

If you’ve ever met Clarissa, you’ve probably noticed two things right away: her boundless energy and her bright, cheerful spirit. We are grateful to have Clarissa on our team and look forward to her leadership in the coming years.

Roles and Responsibilities

How did you learn about The Children’s Center of Medina County? Why did you decide to join the Board of Directors?

I learned about The Children’s Center from a family friend. My family and I started attending the fundraisers and I fell in love with the atmosphere and the cause. I knew I was meant to be a part of the organization in some way.

What is your current role on the Board? What do you do in that role?

I am the Vice President of the Board of Directors. I support the President in any way they need and I work closely with the Executive Committee to keep the functions of the Board running smoothly. I have also been working with our new Executive Director, Madison and assisting with onboarding and offering her support as needed as well. Maybe my title should be Vice President of Support!

What are you most proud of in your work with The Children’s Center?

One thing I am most proud of is the support I receive from my family when it comes to The Center. My family is always with me at events and they love to chat with strangers about the impact The Center has on the community. I did not just come to The Center to volunteer my time, I also brought my support system with me!

Personal Insights and Reflections

What is the best advice you were ever given? Who was it from?

Some of the best advice I ever received is from my Dad. His famous saying is “Can’t means you don’t want to.” This has stayed with me forever. The word “can’t” is not in my vocabulary. I can always do something if I put my mind to it. Last year, I put this motto to the test when I ran my first half-marathon, with my dad as my coach and running partner, of course. That is one of my greatest accomplishments too – running the half-marathon!

When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?

I still do not know what I want to be when I grow up! But, ultimately I aspire to help those in need. I think I always wanted to be a criminal investigator like on Criminal Minds!

What would we most likely find you doing on the weekend?

On the weekend, you can find me being active somewhere with my family… at OrangeTheory working out, at a park running a 5K, playing pickleball, etc. Anything involving being active and competing!

What is your most used emoji?

My most used emoji is 🤣 I am always laughing in real life and virtually.

Community Engagement and Support

What does the community need to know about The Children’s Center?

One thing I would want the community to do is tour the building. The people who work here do amazing things and are passionate about it. They will show you the space and it may inspire you to do a donation drive with your friends or come to our next community event! The mission of The Center is fulfilled by a village, and we are always accepting new people into the village!
