This month we are spotlighting the President of the Board of Directors, Dr. Kris Quallich. Kris joined the Board of Directors in 2018. She served as the Vice President from 2020-2022 and the President from 2022-2024. Kris has been an outstanding advocate for The Children’s Center in the Medina County Schools. She was instrumental in reinstating Human Trafficking Awareness and Safe Relationship training and bringing the recent Sextortion training to Medina County. Kris strongly promoted awareness of Child Abuse Prevention advocating for the Medina City School’s participation in the Pinwheel Gardens Project. She has played an important role in community outreach, education, and fundraising for The Children’s Center.
We asked Kris to share a little more about herself so we could all get to know her better.
Roles and Responsibilities
How did you learn about The Children’s Center of Medina County? Why did you decide to join the Board of Directors?
I learned about The Children’s Center of Medina County from a few of my neighbors who were Board Members and had been helping raise funds for the new building. I was so impressed with all of their stories of the dedication of the Board and the work of The Children’s Center that I looked into becoming a Board Member; it was one of the best experiences I have ever had on a Board.
What is your current role at The Children’s Center? What do you do in that role?
I am currently the Board President. In that role, I help Ashley facilitate our Board meetings and ensure that things run as smoothly as possible. I work to run efficient and informative Board meetings where all members feel they can participate. I also work to be sure the Board actively engages in their part of the Strategic Plan and works to make The Center as effective as possible.
What are you most proud of in your work with The Children’s Center?
I am most proud of the work we have done to continue the growth of The Center started by the previous Board Members. They were big shoes to fill in funding a new building and I feel like we were able to carry on that tradition of excellence. We expanded with a staff that continued to follow through on the mission and vision of stopping abuse, supporting families, and saving children.
Personal Insights and Reflections
What was the best advice you were ever given?
The best advice I was ever given was to always focus on the mission and vision of any organization you are a part of when making decisions. I think that advice has driven the decisions I have tried to make in any organization I have been a part of – to “keep the main thing the main thing” as Stephen Covey shared.
What would we most likely find you doing on the weekend?
You would most likely find me with my kids on the weekend or at a school or community activity because Medina is such an amazing place to work and live.
What is your favorite season?
Fall is my favorite season because I love football and cooler weather.
